仲や
仲や, an izakaya in Jingu-mae, is known for a seafood rice bowl piled high with tuna sent directly from Toyosu and a colourful range of toppings. Get a feel for the small, medium and large sizes, plus the set meal with fish-stock miso soup and fruit.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
When the bowl arrives, its layers of fish leave no room to see the white rice beneath. 仲や, tucked into a side street in Jingu-mae 3-chome, is known for a seafood rice bowl whose generous quantity can exceed even a fish lover’s expectations. Thick-cut tuna takes centre stage, piled so generously that more tuna lies beneath even after you have eaten through the top layer. Lean tuna, medium-fatty tuna and minced tuna sit alongside sea bream, scallops, whitebait and okra, bringing a different mix of flavours to each bite.
At lunchtime, the main choice is the size of your seafood bowl. There are three sizes—small, medium and large—but the small may be more than you expect if you have a conventional portion in mind. Even the small comes piled with fish and can make a filling meal. Choose medium for a substantial meal, or go large if you want to tuck into a particularly generous helping of sashimi and rice.
The set meal comes with thoughtful accompaniments: miso soup flavoured with fish stock, pickles and, on some accounts, fruit such as a mandarin. A bite of lightly pickled vegetables offers a fresh contrast to the rich sashimi, and a mandarin at the end helps leave the palate refreshed.
Lunch is served only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 12:00 to 15:30. Seating is mainly at the counter and in a raised alcove at the back, and the seats can fill soon after opening. For a weekday meal in the Jingu-mae area when you want a generous serving of quality fish, 仲や is a place to plan around.
